Who we are
Our website address is: https://inpolicy.org.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address (and any other information you provide, such as your name) in order to send you updates and publications. This information is stored and processed by our newsletter provider, Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email we send. Mailchimp’s privacy policy is available here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.
Donations
If you make a donation through our website, payment processing is handled by PayPal. We do not store your full payment card details on our own servers; that information is collected and processed directly by PayPal. We retain records of your donation (name, amount, date) for accounting and tax-receipt purposes.
Analytics
We use Koko Analytics to understand overall site traffic, such as which pages are viewed and how many visitors we receive. This tool does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and does not share any data with third parties — all statistics are aggregated and stored on our own server.
Cookies
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, your information is shared with Mailchimp solely to deliver that newsletter.
If you make a donation, your information may be shared with PayPal solely to complete the transaction.
How long we retain your data
Newsletter subscriber information is retained until you unsubscribe. Donation records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, have subscribed to our newsletter, or have made a donation, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except where we are obliged to retain it for administrative, legal, financial, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
We use Koko Analytics for website statistics; all data stays on our own server and is not sent to any third party. Newsletter data is sent to Mailchimp; donation data is sent to PayPal.
