A BSU Prof’s Defense of Islam

CERTAIN PUBLIC POSITIONS are so poorly reasoned that it is best to let them just sit — let them sit moldering as events unfold. Such is the widely published defense of Islam by Dr. Michael Hicks, the George and Frances Ball Distinguished Professor of Economics at Ball State University and director of its Center for Business and Economic Research.

Hicks’s view is noteworthy in that his proclamation for Islam — he relates Muslims to the Amish and thinks Thomas Jefferson would approve — are negated by the statements of American Muslim themselves, statements pointedly unchallenged by any Muslim of prominence. The clear intent is to establish Sharia law here while not only rejecting assimilation into a constitutional republic but promising unrelenting opposition and establishing a pattern of domination, one that has been repeated in 50 nations so far. Concern over this is dismissed as a Ku Klux Klan mindset.

Enough, however, here is a link to the Hicks pronouncement. You will want to file it away for reference as reality tests his apologetics. Dr. Hicks has been awarded tenure. He will need it. — tcl
