The Outstater
Our ‘Terrorist’ Discourse
“This is not America. This is a terrible nightmare. Somebody slap me and wake me up because I’m ready to get on with it.” — Jasmine Crockett
A PEW RESEARCH CENTER survey found that voters it described as members of the “Progressive Left” accounted for only 6 percent of the national electorate and only 12 percent of the Democrat Party coalition. Yet, they are the most politically engaged segment of the party and are disproportionately powerful in shaping Democrat policies and rhetoric.
I once sat in on a Senate briefing by an expert on terrorist standoffs. It was interesting that as an incident leaves the realm of ideology and enters that of reality (a deadline is set, a SWAT team arrives, etc.), the more measured of the terrorists hesitate leaving only the unhinged in leadership. It is the most dangerous moment for hostages, the expert warned.
Do you suppose that is what is happening to the Democrat Party? Are we the hostages? — tcl
