The Party that Doesn’t Pray
MARK AUG. 27, 2025, as the day the Democrat Party, or at least its prominent spokesmen, dismissed the prayers of children shot to death in their pews.
That is the partisan interpretation. A more charitable one would be that Democrats believe that such an act, shooting children at prayer, deserves action (gun control) and not just religious sympathy.
Both miss the point. The children were praying not to protect themselves from bullets fired through stained-glass windows but for three reasons at the heart of Christian teaching:
- First and foremost, they were being taught that God invites and commands their prayers so that they might have a closer relationship with Him.
- Prayer is how they express their dependence on God and receive His grace.
- Most pointedly, they were praying to intercede for others, even those who would mock them.
There is much, much more to say about prayer, hopefully to be taken up in this Sunday’s sermons. Meanwhile, we will be praying for Democrats. For if this week is indicative, their souls are at risk. — tcl
